My Guest Today
W. Bruce Cameron is the New York Times bestselling author of several books, include 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, which was turned into the hit ABC series.
He has twice received the National Society of Newspaper Columnists’ award for Best Humor Columnist, and his weekly nationally syndicated column is published in more than 50 newspapers. His websites are www.brucecameron.com and www.adogspurpose.com
Bruce’s newest, most wonderful book for all us animal lovers, titled: A Dog’s Purpose – a Novel for Humans was the focus of this week’s interview.
This wonderful book is the remarkable story of one endearing dog’s search for his purpose over the course of several life times. More than just another charming dog story, A Dog’s Purpose touches on the universal quest for an answer to life’s most basic question: Why are we here?
You’ll get answers to these questions:
- Why do we adopt dogs knowing they will most likely die before we do?
- What if your dog never dies? What if dogs live multiple lifetimes, and remembers all of them?
- What if every animal has a purpose, and your pet’s purpose is intimately bound to yours?
- Why do so many people say the book A Dog’s Purpose gives them comfort when they’ve lost a pet?
- What makes the narrative voice in A Dog’s Purpose (the dog), different from other books that have been written from a dog’s perspective?
- There are so, so many books out there with a dog on the cover. Why has this one been so successful? Are you surprised at its success?
A Dog’s Purpose is ultimately uplifting and redeeming and full of joy and hope. www.adogspurpose.com is a place where you can purchase merchandise inspired by Bruce’s books. And every sale benefits animal rescue!
In my work I’ve also discovered that many behavior and health problems often come from past lives. It’s fascinating how souls journey’s weave in and out together, and what’s brought forward that affects health and well being.
Have you and your pet been together before this lifetime? Do you want to know more?
Let’s talk to them and find out what they know that you don’t (yet). Click Here and let’s get started

I never got the chance to adopt a dog but I’ve always being a lover of dogs. I intend to adopt hopefully someday soon. Being an introvert is sometimes too much to bear, a dog will surely light the burden.
Val Heart says
Hi Kehinde, I’m so glad to hear that. Your dog is out there waiting for you, an angel, teacher, guide and healer. He or she will change your life for the better. Please don’t wait too long!
Hugs,
Val

Thanks for the heads up on Bruce’s new novel – I’ve seen the trailers for the film, but wasn’t aware that there was a novel first. I think it’s so important that we make the effort to connect with our pets – the bond between human and dog is such an incredible one 🙂
Val Heart says
Thanks, Megan! You’re right, the bond between humans and dogs (all pets really) is extraordinary. His book and the movie are brilliant in their own way and explore the subject of reincarnation and how dogs help us be better people. Hugs!

Enjoyed hearing this interview. Clearly, it took place some time back as Mr Cameron references work to make the book into movie beginning in 2012. Very pleased to know that there’s/will be sequel to book. Haven’t read the book yet, but plan to see movie soon.
Val Heart says
Thanks Yvonne! Yes, I interviewed him awhile back, when they were just starting to film the movie. I loved learning the backstory behind it all. The movie is wonderful! I highly recommend taking kleenex. Hugs, Val

Hi Andy! Thank you – yes, powerful points were made that help us better understand and appreciate the master teachers, healers, guides and angels disguised as animals in our lives! They often have soul contracts and always have purpose in being with us. If by accident they are not meant to be with us, then there is work to be done to get them where they’re supposed to be. Thank you for loving and caring for animals too!
Andy Mcnabby says
This was such a great post, definitely some key points to take note of! We should be so grateful for our dogs, and treat them with all the love and care we have to offer.
