How Two Cats Saved Me as a Child On a hot summer day when I was 11 years old, two stray kittens wandered into our yard. They were emaciated and dirty, but I begged my mother to let me adopt them. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of money, and I’m sure that my mother was concerned about how much caring for them would cost.
