Animal Communication FAQ
This page answers the most common questions about animal communication, how it works, and what to expect when working with an experienced animal communicator.
Animal Communication Basics
How it works, how accurate it is, and what kinds of situations it can help with.
What is animal communication?
Animal communication is a natural form of intuitive communication that allows people to receive thoughts, emotions, images, and impressions from animals.
Animals communicate constantly through energy, emotion, and intention. When a person learns to quiet their mind and listen carefully, they can begin to perceive what animals are expressing.
This ability is often described as telepathic communication, but in practice it feels more like listening with heightened intuitive awareness.
How does animal communication work?
Animals share information through images, emotions, physical sensations, and intuitive impressions. A trained communicator learns how to receive these signals and interpret them carefully. The process is similar to translating a language - information arrives in symbolic or emotional form and must be interpreted responsibly.
This is why experience and training are so important. Receiving impressions is only part of the process. Interpreting them correctly requires skill and discernment.
How accurate is animal communication?
Accuracy improves dramatically with training, experience, and responsible interpretation. Even experienced communicators approach sessions with humility, recognizing that communication is a cooperative process between human and animal.
Val's work focuses not only on receiving impressions, but on interpreting them responsibly based on decades of experience working with animals and their people.
Can animal communication be done long distance?
Yes. Animal communication works through telepathic connection, so distance is not a limitation. Val works with animals all over the world. Whether your animal is in another city, another country, or another continent, the communication process works the same way.
Do you need to be with my animal in person?
No. All sessions are conducted remotely. Val connects with your animal through telepathic communication and intuitive perception. Most sessions are conducted by phone or online while you and your animal remain comfortably at home.
Can you communicate with animals who have passed away?
Yes. Through intuitive animal communication, it is often possible to connect with animals in spirit and receive messages, reassurance, or insight about their transition. These conversations can help people find peace, closure, and a deeper understanding of the continuing bond between humans and animals.
You don't need to wait any specific length of time to communicate with them, and it doesn't matter how long ago they passed.

What kinds of problems can animal communication help with?
Animal communication can help with many situations, including:
- Behavior problems
- Unexplained illness or discomfort
- Emotional distress or trauma
- Relationship issues between animals
- Major life changes (moves, new family members, etc.)
- End-of-life transitions
- Understanding your animal's needs and feelings
Val's work goes beyond simple message-relaying and focuses on understanding root causes and supporting healing for both the animal and their person. Her specialty is solving problems with pets through the Heart Wisdom System®, a five-step process she developed after decades of working with animals and their people.
Sessions are especially helpful when something feels confusing, emotionally charged, or difficult to resolve on your own.
Can animal communication replace veterinary care?
No. Animal communication is not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or medical treatment. If your animal is sick or injured, the most important step is always to work closely with a qualified veterinarian.
How is your work different from other animal communicators?
Many animal communicators focus primarily on receiving messages from animals. Val's work goes further by combining communication with decades of experience helping families understand the deeper emotional and behavioral dynamics affecting their animals.
With more than 30 years of experience working with thousands of animals and people worldwide, Val helps clients:
- Identify the root cause behind difficult behavior
- Understand emotional patterns affecting the animal
- Navigate complex human-animal dynamics
- Make grounded decisions during stressful situations
The focus is always on helping animals and their people move forward in a healthier and more harmonious way.
Preparing for Your Session
How sessions work and what to expect.
Can you work with more than one animal in a session?
Yes. Val regularly communicates with more than one animal during a session. In fact, many situations involve relationships between animals in the same household, so including them together can often provide deeper insight into what is happening and how to support them.
If you have several animals, the session will focus on the ones most connected to the situation you would like help with.
Do I need to be with my animal during the session?
No. Animal communication works across distance because the connection is energetic rather than physical. Many sessions take place while the animal is resting comfortably at home.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. Most sessions are conducted remotely by phone, allowing clients from around the world to work with Val.
Will my animal answer every question I ask?
Animals are individuals with their own perspectives, emotions, and priorities. While many animals are very open and communicative, they may not always answer questions in the way a person expects. Sometimes they respond with images, feelings, memories, or insights about what they feel is most important.
Part of Val's role is helping interpret what the animal is sharing so their message can be understood clearly and respectfully. Animal communication works best as a conversation, not an interrogation. Often the most important insights come from what the animal wants you to understand.
Do animals ever hide information or refuse to communicate?
Animals always have free will, just as people do - and what's important to you may not be important to them.
Most animals are very willing to communicate with Val, especially when their guardian genuinely wants to understand them better. That's true even when animals don't want to communicate with other communicators. Occasionally an animal may be quiet or reserved at first, but patience, expertise in guiding the conversation, and loving respect allow the conversation to unfold.
How quickly will I see results?
Every situation is different. Sometimes changes occur quickly once the underlying issue is understood. Other times, deeper emotional or behavioral patterns may take time to shift.
Val's goal is not just temporary surface-level answers, but lasting clarity and healing for both you and your animal. That is why she specializes in identifying the root causes of problems.
Do you need a photo of my animal?
Yes. A clear photo of your animal is helpful and is usually requested before the session. Photos help Val focus on the specific animal you would like her to communicate with, especially when there are multiple animals in the household.
What information should I send before a session?
After scheduling your appointment, you will be asked to complete the Human-Animal BodyMind Questionnaire and submit photos of your animal. Please submit the questionnaire and photos at least two days before your appointment so Val has time to review the information.
This information helps Val prepare for the session and understand the background of your situation so the time together can be used as effectively as possible.
How should I prepare for my session?
In addition to filling out Val's Questionnaires (one for you and one for each of your pets) before your session, it can be helpful to:
- Write down the questions you would like to ask
- Think about the situation you want help understanding
- Gather any relevant background information about your animal
Approaching the session with curiosity and openness often creates the best results.
Fees & Availability
How Val's consulting packages work and when she is available.
How much does it cost to work with Val?
Val's private consulting work is offered in structured consultation packages rather than single one-off sessions, so there is enough time to understand the situation, communicate with the animals involved, and address root causes.
Consultations are typically offered in either a 3-hour or 6-hour package depending on the complexity of the situation and number of animals involved.
If you are unsure which option is best for your situation, you are welcome to contact the office and we will be happy to guide you.
Is Val accepting new private clients?
Due to her teaching and mentoring schedule, Val is not always available for new private client sessions. When she does work with private clients, consultations are offered in structured packages rather than single one-off sessions so there is enough time to properly understand the situation and address root causes.
If Val's schedule is full, you may be referred to one of her trusted senior associates who are highly trained animal communicators.
What if Val's schedule is full?
Because Val now spends much of her time teaching and mentoring professional animal communicators, she is not always available for private consulting. In those situations, clients are often referred to one of Val's trusted senior associates - communicators who have trained extensively with Val and are experienced in applying the same thoughtful, heart-centered approach.
Many clients receive excellent support working with one of these recommended practitioners, especially for situations such as behavior challenges, emotional stress, or communication support for animals and their families.

What is Val's earliest availability for a consultation?
Due to her teaching and mentoring schedule, Val is not currently accepting most new private client consultations. If you would like support, one of Val's trusted senior associates may be able to assist you.
Why are your private sessions priced higher than many communicators?
Val's private sessions reflect more than three decades of professional experience, advanced training, and work with complex cases involving behavior, health concerns, and emotional dynamics. Clients are not simply paying for a short conversation with their animal - they are benefiting from the ability to interpret what is happening clearly and guide the family toward practical solutions.
Over the years Val has helped thousands of animals and their people navigate difficult situations with compassion and clarity. Because her schedule is limited, private sessions are reserved for situations where clients are ready to engage thoughtfully with the process.

Is there a way to get guidance without booking a private consultation?
Yes. Many people discover that learning to communicate with their own animals can be one of the most powerful ways to improve their relationship and solve problems together.

Inside the Club, students learn practical communication skills, participate in live teaching and case discussions, and receive mentoring that helps them grow in confidence and clarity. They also get help with their own pets in the live classes.
Many people begin here to better understand their own animals, while others continue on to develop professional-level communication skills.
Learning Animal Communication
How to develop your own abilities and train with Val.
I already communicate with animals sometimes. How do I improve my accuracy?
Many people who feel called to animal communication already receive impressions, images, emotions, or physical sensations from animals. The real challenge is not just receiving information, but learning how to interpret it accurately and responsibly.
This is where mentorship, real case discussion, and ongoing practice become essential. Developing skill as an animal communicator requires discernment, emotional clarity, and the ability to recognize when a message is truly coming from the animal rather than from your own assumptions.
Through the Heart School of Animal Communication® and the Animal Talk Coaching & Mastery Club®, Val mentors students who want to refine their abilities, strengthen their intuitive perception, and learn how experienced communicators approach complex situations.
Can anyone learn animal communication?
Yes. Most people have natural intuitive abilities that can be developed with practice, training, and mentorship. Learning animal communication is both a skill and a personal development journey. As people refine their awareness and emotional clarity, their ability to listen to animals becomes stronger.
