I was grocery shopping when I heard the news about the tragic bombing in Boston at today’s marathon.
In addition to sending prayers and heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, I wanted to offer you some guidance in case it also touched your heart with sadness.
My friend Marisa just reminded me of a favorite quote by Henry David Thoreau:
“One is not born into the world to do everything but to do something.”
This echoes a core belief I hope we share:
We’re not here on this Earth to tackle every challenge. We’re not meant to overcome every obstacle. We’re here to do one thing. That ONE thing is something that only we can do.
I’m a firm believer that if more people had the courage to listen to their heart and follow their love; if they gave themselves permission to heal and forgive those who have hurt them in the past; and, if they had the courage to fulfill their purpose to help make the world a better place…
If you just take care to do that one thing, then our world would be a more peaceful, safe and joyous place, for us and our animals.
Hope you feel the same way…
If you do, please leave a comment or offer your support below.
Be safe and know you are loved,
Val
Dedicated to changing the world one animal lover at a time…
Thank you, Val for putting out there methods for us to come back to our daily life and responsibilities.

Thanks, Val, for your encouraging words and for reminding us that we don’t have to do everything, but to do something. The heroes in Boston certainly stepped up to that challenge yesterday. Bless those that were injured and condolences to the families of those that were killed.

The tragedy was bad enough, but what seemed equally as devastating to me, was my immediate reaction when I saw this occur. Instead of feeling shock and disbelief, my immediate response was…. For God’s sake… not another bombing! I know this may seem harsh, but I am being totally honest here. There is so much horror and evil in the world right now, that although we speak of ‘not giving over to terrorism’, perhaps something even more shocking is occurring. Perhaps we are becoming somewhat numb to it. Not dis-compassionate by any means, but not shocked anymore. This to me, is probably as heartbreaking as the event itself. God bless us, God bless the Animals and may we find peace… somehow.

bomb blast in boston with some killed and many more injured. Tragic indeed. media focus on boston yet 26 earthquakes took place today: magnitude in united states and adjacent areas 2.5 or greater; magnitude in rest of the world 4.5 or greater with iran pakistan border region registering the highest in recent years 7.8 !!!! hundreds… no, THOUSANDS have lost their lives. no media mention about that… who cares? tragedy and drama everywhere. and thoughts go out to all those affected… as for bomb blasts, how many hundreds of those go off a day? how many people die as a result…? too many but they’re not americans. Thoughts of condolences should go to all the people of the world
thank you

My sister told me about the bombing and I too felt saddened by how people choose to express themselves. Recently, I was talking to my “Guides” about the deaths that have occurred not only in my family the past few months and years, but also losses to friends of mine… My “Guides” said, “people come in not only to live, but also to die.” This gives me a different perspective, but it still doesn’t take away the sense of loss… or the sadness of the tragedy.
Sincerely,
Susan

Thank you, Val, for that reminder. Even the 8 year old boy left his mark with his “one thing.” They say he was very helpful to his classmates and had a passion for baseball and was a bright light to all. That’s quite a mark for having been on the planet for only 8 years! I know the power of prayer at a time like this. Each of us can make a mark to uphold a higher energy on our planet, just through our caring love &prayers. Thank you so much for blogging on this topic for us all to come together. Much love and tons of prayers to us all! Shannon Peck

My heart has been heavy with this very tragic event. It seems as though they’re coming closer and closer together. Before we’ve healed from one tragedy, another one manifests itself. Its very sad that people can’t just be happy, BE KIND, AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Its so easy, and yet so few do it.

I felt so terryfying when I heard the news about boston story yesterday too. Due to the accident, many people will suffer with pain physically and mentally. Why do people do such horrible things, I want them know that they cannot stab the other innocent people out of thier own hatred, without first stabbing themselves. Please stop and listen to your inner good, if you still have it. We all can make a difference not all by our ownselves but together as one.
Thank you my teacher Val

My dad’s personal philosophy: “We’re all put here on Earth to help each other.” I think you said it succinctly, Val, when you wrote that each of us is part of that web-of-help when we do what we can, from where we’re at in this moment of time, and with whatever talents/abilities we have. There is something ‘I’ CAN do, and ONLY ‘I’ can do. I can remember that I am part of this universal web-of-help and hope … and remembering that lessens my personal sense of help-/hope-lessness. We cannot “help each other” until we remember that ‘I’ am a source of help/hope in this world, no matter what!
Thank you, Val, for being there … for so many and in so many ways. You strengthen the web, and help us all to become stronger strands.

I agree wholeheartedly and the only way we can stop all this is to have love and compassion in our hearts. Every day I send love and light into the world and ask to please raise the consciousness of Earth humans esp our political leaders and the Globalists (ultra rich) who are mostly responsible for this. Everyone should watch the movie “Thrive” on the internet (free) and that will give you an insight as to what is happening. It is sooo much more than just crazy, hateful people though there are some crazies out there. We all need to embrace each other and NOT go into the fear. Know there is a Creator who loves us and the LIGHT always wins!

I think forgiveness is so important. It not only heals the people who need forgiving but heals us and sets us free to go forward as better people and to teach other people what we have learned on our own journeys in the process. Thanks for all you give Val. xo
